For those not in the know, a honey dripper is known as a homemade treat comprised of Kool-Aid, fruit punch, or canned fruit frozen inside a cup. According to many, the term honey dripper originated in Jacksonville, particularly in the city’s OutEast neighborhood, and the face of the tasty treat today is Eastside advocate Michele Kimbrough, owner of the Honey Dripper House.

Honey Drippers are a staple in the Eastside community. The owner of the Honey Dripper House shares more about this cultural phenomenon and shares samples with our Morning Show crew.

Alice Michele Kimbrough, the dedicated founder of the Honey Dripper House Mobile Ice Cream truck, is celebrating 13 years of bringing joy and sweetness to the Historic Eastside of Jacksonville, FL. Since its inception, the mobile ice cream truck has become a beloved fixture in the community, serving both young and old with a delightful array of frozen treats.

“Good Humor is calling for the public to vote for the Joy Driver of the Year, who will receive a total of $25,000 in grants to keep on spreading joy through their ice cream business. We’d like to put in our vote for Alice Kimbrough of Jacksonville, Florida, who is passionate about making customers big and small smile with her Honey Dripper House mobile ice cream truck.”

“Right now, our two biggest challenges are lack of exposure and truck repair,” Kimbrough said as she pointed around the interior of her truck in the video. “I’m on my truck currently, and the two bottom panels on my rollup door need to be replaced. There’s a leak in the roof, and there’s a hole in the floor under the gas pedal. But we feel that with these funds, those challenges are solvable.”
